Valentining

It's been a tough, heart-aching couple of months without my guy here by my side and even though I try to distract myself in all ways imaginable I'm still always aware of the chilly empty space beside me that only he can fill. I can't wait for the day he can swoop me into one of his biggest bear hugs, we can go on real life dates instead of Skype ones and give big wet lip-smacking kisses instead of hitting 'x' on the keyboard.

In the meantime it's been such a sweet pleasure to let him show me that despite being 3000 miles and a whole ocean away he can still make my heart leap...

Snail Mail is my fave
Cutest Valentine ever! x

Where the Heart's at

These past 4 months have been so full I hardly know where to begin with them. Since I said goodbye to Korea in September I've managed to put pins in the following countries on the map: Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, India and the greenest part on the entire globe, Ireland. Reconnecting with my parents after the longest stretch apart has been so joyful and I'm so lucky to be so close to my Mam and Pop, we're really just three great buddies, my little family. I've also been busy falling absolutely in love with the new house they bought while I was gone. It's in the loveliest little spot where every window affords a view of fields and sheep and tractors chugging on by on the lane out front. Like my Dad I am something of a hermit by nature so the isolation really agrees with me. I love the feeling of barricading myself inside my cave to read, write, think and breath deep uninterrupted by the world outside. Finally I've had the pleasure of a new room to put my stamp on which has kept my fingers busy daily. I've been unboxing, hanging, arranging and loving on every little corner till I make it my own.

The Cool Side of the Pillow

After a little thought I've decided to put last years blog to bed and start 2012 with a fresh new space for collecting my thoughts, photos and memories. Just like when you turn to a clean page in your journal or lay a cheek down on a freshly turned pillow, there's always a certain cool satisfaction to starting afresh.

It's in this little corner that I'll be able to come back and remember all the little things; the impressions of my day, the thoughts, the treasures, the smiles. It's usually the most easily  forgotten things that are most worth hanging on to.
