surfs up!

Here are just a few iPhone shots I took during my road trip to Cornwall with Free People last weekend!
I kinda rued never getting my driver's license because the minute I saw the turquoise VW camper the girls had rented I wanted to hop behind the wheel and drive it straight into the sunset! What an awesome set of wheels!!
The trip was a total blast and I had such a great time making lots of memories, sunburnt noses and shoulders, and a few awesome new friends along the way.
Full guest post coming very soon over on the BLDG blog.
I'll keep you posted >.<

I'm so glad that you're here! Why not hitch your wagon to Stars in Jars?

big trees, small girl

Nothing could be better for the soul than a wander through the forest in the summer rain.
If only I could bottle the scent of freshly sprinkled leaves and dab it behind my ears on days when I'm blue!

The forest was abuzz with nature doing her thang~ dragonflies helicoptered, lily pads floated, green things grew  and the pine trees canopied way up above.
I felt like a very small girl in a big old beautiful world.

I collected sticks and counted crow feathers and listened to wild tales of Irish wildflowers and moss and wood-fern from my hiking buddy.

It's fun to be an explorer, to breath easy in the forest and get my toes wet and not care an inch.
I hope you've enjoyed a little summer rainfall where you are, it's not too shabby at all!

a blueberry pancake kind of day

I woke up today with the notion that this was a blueberry pancakes for breakfast kind of a day.
When your notions speak to you in the morning I find it's best you mind them because then the day might finish and no blueberry pancake batter will be chilling in the fridge ready for round two tomorrow!
I'm a sucker for little blueberries, they're like sweet little reminders that Summer is waiting just around the corner.

This little dog of ours is both sweet and irascible depending on which way the wind is blowing.
Here she is giving my feet a good wash...
this is after she pulled both my socks off  and murdered them with her bare teeth ^.^
She's a character, our little fat bellied baby, my favourite is when she's all sleepy from play and she conks out on her back like a human toddler...my heart melts!

Tonight I'm packing my bags for a short trip North to my great grandmother's cottage in Donegal.
I love escaping to this part of Ireland, there's so much of the country's original, untouched landscapes, glens and white sandy beaches to explore.

Except if it rains. Which it probably will. If so an open fire, books and board games are all to be seen in my tea leaves!!

See you in a few days!

my kinda therapy

My auntie whisked my mother and myself away today to treat us to lunch and a spot of much needed retail therapy!
We ate at a beautiful little Italian Deli which also had a grocery section where I scooped up these delectable little macaroons and splurged on my porridge addiction by purchasing this lovely bottle of Irish porridge flavored with Madagascan vanilla~ I literally cannot wait till tomorrow morning when I can eat this with bananas and blueberries, although the packaging is so pretty I feel it's almost a shame to break the seal and use it!

We then proceeded to browse the shops and I immediately spotted this beautiful little bed buddy, she looks sweet as can be nestled between my pillows, I feel like she was just waiting in that shop to be bought by me!
I can't wait to snuggle with her tonight!

We then found this darling farm shop that sold fresh produce and I stocked up on brie, strawberries and dark chocolate for a recipe I've pinned that I'm dying to try out~ I'll post the results if it turns out right!
While we were there I couldn't resist adding this creamed coconut and dark chocolate fudge to my straw basket of goodies~ again, packaging, I fall for it EVERY time!

I honestly almost squealed with delight when i popped into a stationary store and found this scalloped paper punch~ i have been hunting one of these down for the longest time and cannot wait to scallop the lips of all my future snail mail envelopes ^.^
Then I almost squealed again when I saw they stocked washi tape! I told the sales girl how popular they are in Asia and she said they had only just arrived in stock the week before and they were baffled by what people would use them for!

Finally, I have to say I have the best Momma in the world who bought me a few wee treats as an early Thirtieth birthday present~ this beautiful patterned scarf and wedge sandals. my heart skipped a beat when I spotted these sandals as they are so close to the Blowfish Gypsy sandals which I couldn't get my hands on last summer.
I love you Mom!

It's been such a long time since I've been able to go out and splurge like this.
There's no doubt in my mind that a little retail therapy is good for the soul ^.^
Happy Friday, friends!

desert dreams

desert dreams by louloubelle51

I'm letting my mind flutter and float to more clement climes.
No more heavy coats and cable knits... I long for the feel of floating dresses against naked legs, bare arms and sandaled feet and vintage thrift finds.

I pulled together this outfit inspiration on Polyvore today to appease my longing for summer dress weather.
I've also been pinning outfit ideas like crazy...

...are you guys this achy for summer too?

threads & kicks

One of my favorite parts of winter is getting to layer up snug against the chill for an outing.
Usually I don't have the right figure to carry off current "trends" but I'm all over layering this year.
Wooly knee socks, leggings, cable knit tights and chunky woolen knits are the order of the day...
and I am head over heels for this pair of dark brown faux suede Tugo boots that Blowfish sent me.
They are unbelievably comfortable, have a flattering little wedge in the heel and they just suit my style to an absolute tee~ I love my boots to be belted and buckled like a pirates ~.^

I wore this outfit out to eat Vietnamese with Dallas on Sunday and paired with the Tugo booties it was just the right combo of style, comfort and warmth.
I think I'm going to be living in these till Spring starts singing her song and my toes can come out to play again!

Thank you Blowfish!
